A couple of year ago, we all had experienced an era where, maid replaced parents in the process of child care. In fact, now the phenomenon is slightly different where kids are taken care by an electronic device known as GADGET. Gadget and kids are inseparable in this challenging world. However, this phenomenon is not only haunted by the Malaysian society, but also happened in foreign communities where gadget is currently replacing maid to take care of children.

Many have admitted that gadget is really helpful as it can make child ‘behave’ and ‘quiet’ so that mother can easily do housework, eating peacefully in restaurant and many more. Sadly, how many of you realized that this action are worst and can be harmful to your child? Did you ever know that excessive stimulus from using this gadget can shrink your child’s brain especially for kids under 3 years old? Addiction to gadget will creates problem in focusing, behavior and child’s mood. Studies have reported that normally parents will speak in 940 words per hour when children are with them. However, when gadget is given to children, numbers of word falls to 770 words per hour. Consequently, fewer words are spoken making less vocabulary can be stored in the lexical databases of brain. These are among the reason why many children experienced slow talk as they also having less conversation with their parents.

Children need to be aware of the hidden dangers of gadget. Thus, parents have superpower to control the use of technology itself. Gadget might be useful if parents know how to make use of it wisely. Through gadget, parents can nurture lots of good lesson to them like showing a video of Quranic recitation for kids to memorize in condition with proper observation and control and many more.  Indeed, parents are the only one who determining whether gadget can be a destructive or constructive. Every single moment of your child development period is precious because there are a lot of things you can bring up to them since their young. Remember, your child is a gift from Allah.
